WTO can decide on Russian claim against energy package in May ‘17
BRUSSELS, Aug 23 (PRIME) -- The arbiter panel of the World Trade Organization (WTO) can decide on a dispute regarding the third energy package between Russia and the E.U. in May 2017, according to a document seen by PRIME on Tuesday.
“The panel expects to issue its final report to the parties (of the dispute) in May 2017, in accordance with the timetable adopted after consultation with the parties,” the WTO said.
The third energy package bars fuel owners from possession of main pipelines in Europe. Russian gas giant Gazprom had to cancel its South Stream gas pipeline project due to these restrictions. Russia sent a claim to the WTO against the law in 2014.
